The Waalsprong is a new development in the town of Nijmegen. To carry out its plans, the Municipality of Nijmegen created a special consortium – the GrondExploitatieMaatschappij known as GEM Waalsprong – of several large Dutch construction companies. GEM is responsible for building 1,200 residences and the city centre area, De Citadel. The Municipality is concentrating on the main infrastructure; the new railway station of Lent; the Landschapszone recreation and leisure area; the Oosterhoutse Waarden nature reserve; sports and educational facilities; wind turbines; and attracting companies to the industrial areas.
Our role To Interface was responsible for the procurement and contract management for the Municipality’s part of the Waalsprong’s operational plans, both at programme and at project level. To Interface was also involved in the technical management and financial management of various projects in the Waalsprong.
