The Waal river is very narrow at Lent and is shaped like a bottle neck. This creates a hazard of flooding at high water. For the safety of the local population, the problems caused by the bottle neck need to be addressed and the solution is replacing the dyke at Lent. This project is part of the Ruimte voor de Rivier (space for the river) programme.
Our role Replacing the dyke has consequences for the Municipality of Nijmegen’s urban development plans for the Waalsprong area. The Municipality of Nijmegen has developed a spatial plan that falls within the government’s key planning decision Ruimte voor de Rivier. Within the spatial plan, To Interface was responsible for initiating the list of standards, the cost framework and the scope management. The systems engineering was applied. In the contract preparation phase, the management & maintenance aspects for the bridges and hard embankment was worked out.
