PROJECT NAME
Spitsmijden (‘Avoiding rush hour’) A12 Lunetten-Veenendaal and Galecopperbrug
CLIENT
Rijkswaterstaat (Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment)
FUNCTION
Contract management
PERIOD
2010 to present (preparation phase to operational phase)
In 2011 and 2012, Rijkswaterstaat widened the A12 between Lunetten and Veenendaal. The Galecopperbrug bridge across the A12 at Utrecht is being renovated to extend its life by thirty years. Work started in 2013 and is expected to end in 2015. During these road works, traffic is being severely affected. To reduce the problems, two projects were created: the Spitsmijden A12 Lunetten-Veenendaal and the Spitsmijden Galecopperbrug. These projects are rewarding car drivers who avoid driving in rush hour traffic or who arrange their working days differently. This could be by leaving for work earlier or later, working full or part days at home, carpooling, using public transport or finding an alternative means of transport such as a bicycle or scooter.
Our role To Interface is fulfilling the role of contract manager during the preparation, tender, completion and operational phases. This involves preparing and closing contracts, and implementing the work for the benefit of service providers and number plate registration services.
